Tandem Skydive
When?
Please refer to your letter of confirmation for details of the date of your
jump. If you are jumping on a Saturday or Sunday you should arrive at the
airfield as close to 8am as possible, as the day is run on a ‘first come, first
served’ basis. If you are jumping on a midweek day you should arrive at 9am,
unless it is a Wednesday when the arrival time is 8am.
Weather
Whatever the weather, the centre will try complete your jump in at some point
during the day . However if the conditions look terrible a telephone number for
the airfield is listed below.
Where?
On the reverse of this sheet is a map to the airfield which is situated fifteen
miles north of Cambridge. For those of you using Sat-Nav or an internet mapping
application the postcode for the center is PE15 0FB
What do I wear?
Warm comfortable clothes including soft-soled shoes. Helmets, jump suits and
gloves will be provided.
Procedure
First there will be a 20-30 minute briefing session on what equipment you will
be using, how to board the aircraft and most importantly how to exit the
aircraft in a stable face-to-earth position. The parachute centre will then
endeavour to complete your jump as quickly as possible but you should realise
that with lots of other people waiting to jump and factors outside of their
control such as weather and air traffic control, delays are going to be
inevitable. Our advice is take something to read and don’t expect to get back
home until sometime in the evening.
Facilities
Snacks and drinks are available on-site, as are toilet facilities
Photography
A video and/or stills may be able to be taken of your jump - the current cost is
£85 for VHS video or £108 for DVD video. Still photographs are extra.
Accommodation
Please call the airfield should you require details of local accommodation
Finally
You are welcome to bring friends and family to watch, but please remember,
facilities at airfields are fairly basic and young children may quickly become
bored. Parachuting is an all day activity, and you may be there up until 8pm.
Try not to be too nervous on the day; there will be many other people trying
parachuting for the very first time and the more you relax the more you will
enjoy it!
